How to download your Capital One statement as a PDF

On capitalone.com

  1. Sign in at capitalone.com.
  2. Open the account you want statements for.
  3. Choose "View Statements" to see that account's statement history.
  4. Open the statement period you need and save the PDF.

In the mobile app

  1. Sign in to the Capital One Mobile app.
  2. Tap the account.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the account page and tap "Statements".
  4. Open a statement period and export it.

Statements are only available online if the account is enrolled in paperless statements. For active accounts Capital One keeps up to 7 years of statements, while the on-screen transaction history only goes back 2 years — so anything older lives in the monthly PDFs.

What a Capital One statement looks like inside

  • Deposit accounts and credit cards are laid out differently, and that changes how they are read.
  • On the 360 deposit statement Capital One publishes as a sample, transactions sit in one continuous table — description, date, amount, balance — opening with a balance row and closing with another. A running balance follows every transaction, which is the layout our strongest accuracy check is designed for.
  • Credit card statements are the opposite: transactions are grouped into labelled sections — payments, credits, fees, interest charges, cash advances — rather than one table, so they have to be merged into a single list.
  • Deposit statements use MM/DD/YYYY dates, a comma thousands separator and a period decimal.
  • Savings statements carry interest metadata directly above the transaction table — rate, APY earned, interest to date. Those are summary figures, not transactions, and are not exported as rows.

How we check a Capital One statement is right

Our strongest check compares each row against the statement's own running balance: balance plus amount must give the next balance, row after row. Capital One's 360 deposit statements print exactly that, so those files get the full row-by-row check. Card statements generally do not carry a per-row balance, so for those we fall back to control-total footing — the transactions we extracted must add up to the opening and closing figures printed on the statement. Either way the arithmetic has to close, and a file that does not reconcile is flagged rather than quietly handed to you.

Capital One is not one of our per-bank verified parsers, so we do not quote an accuracy percentage for it. The reconciliation result for your specific file is shown on screen before you download.

Things worth knowing

  • If the account was never enrolled in paperless statements, there may be no PDF to download in the first place.
  • The on-screen transaction history stops at 2 years. For older periods you need the monthly statement PDFs, which go back further.
  • A card statement and a 360 deposit statement are different documents with different layouts — both convert, but expect the card export to lean on the printed totals rather than a running balance.

How accurate is the Capital One to Excel conversion?+

Yes. Files are encrypted in transit, processed in the EU, and deleted within 24 hours — we never permanently store your transactions. The service is GDPR compliant and built in Sweden.
